A group has been formed to raise funds to assist the formation of a University Chair of Human Rights dedicated to the memory of former Minister of Immigration the Hon Al Grassby AM OI, who spent his lifetime working against racial & religious prejudice and who is known as the Father of Multiculturalism in Australia.

The second meeting of the group (28 April 2006), marked the 1st anniversary of the death of Al Grassby.

The guest speaker at the meeting on 28 April 2006 was Neill Wright, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Click here to down-load his speech.

In its 4 July 2006 edition, "The Bulletin" magazine listed Al Grassby as one of 100 Most Influential Australians.
